Similarly, Australia and the UK observed a substantial increase, with numbers increasing from approximately 120,000 to almost 200,000. In contrast, Canada recorded a significantly lower number of foreign students than the other countries, with about 41,000 in 2004 and roughly 61,000 in 2012.

Turning to the percentage of foreign students, all countries except the USA observed an increase in their proportions. In 2012, Australia had the highest proportion of foreign students at 24% of the total student population. In comparison, the USA had the lowest percentage of foreign students among the four countries, remaining stable at 2%.
